Calmer of the Storm

"Storm" by Lifehouse

How long have I been in this storm?
So overwhelmed by the ocean's
Shapeless form
Water's getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head

If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light

And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright

I know you didn't bring me out here to drown
So why am I ten feet under and upside down?
Barely surviving has become my purpose
Because I'm so used to living
Underneath the surface

If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light

And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright.

Storms in our lives often overtake us. We lose our focus on everything around us and devote our existence to beating down the wind and the waves. But the truth is, if God has you in a struggle, it is for a reason. He's not out to get you or I; however, He is testing us. You see, we can't get through struggles without Him. But if we stay focused on Him in the midst of struggle, He'll carry us through it, strengthen our faith, and bring Himself glory. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, if we focus on the storm instead of on Jesus, we will likely be overtaken by it; dragging down our witness to the lost with us.

So how do we accomplish such a task? Stay in the word, stay in intimate fellowship with Jesus, and make sure we're living lives that totally separate us from the lost world surrounding us. High standards, no compromises.
